all through the first one all I thought was 'I hope it's John, I hope it's John' but then when I read the "Sammy" all I could think was no...NO NO!!!!
I think I was still in shock when I read the second one and although it said allot more in fewer words it didn't have the same impact as it would have had I read it first...
I actually think that when the show ends (hopefully after many successful seasons) that it will either have an open ending where the fans will be able to make their own endings OR that Dean will live to meet the 'real' world...for the exact same reasons as you think he will die
it would be so much easier that way, and life's never easy especially not to the Winchester's (have you wondered by the way why there aren't any cousins or uncles or anything in the way of family in their lives beyond the tree of them) and I think it would be a little like 'taking the easy way out' to have him die, before having at least another taste at 'normal' without that the choice to live a hunters life wouldn't be as objective and I think his character deserves that kind of closure (and maybe the feeling that he's deserving of a normal life like Sam) not now though (cause I don't think he's ready for it yet) but sometime in the future...
