I also thought it was just going to be the guys and the 80s; maybe having to be a bit more behaved because they'd gotten transferred in the first place... I was hoping my mate was wrong about the new girl storyline. She got it from The Sun :S
is it going to be more centered on her? Like as you say, Life on Mars with a girl who knows a bit more from the get go? Or is it from Gene's pov seeing yet another insane person??
